Diet Coke

My niece Lauren is so adorable and she has such a fun personality! Back on mother's day we were at Matt's grandma's house for a spaghetti dinner and we thought we would have a little fun with her ability to say "diet coke" It is pretty funny.

A new job

I got a new job today! For the last four years I have been working for an general practice dental office. It is a wonderful office, with wonderful talented people and fantastic patients. In addition to that, every week a Periodontist (gum specialist) comes in and I assist her. Unfortunately, they are cutting back hours and they really aren't utilizing me much right now. The periodontist I have assisted for the last 4 years has a brother who happens to be an oral surgeon, so I got hooked up with him.
Today was my first day working for him. I was so excited to observe some of these oral surgeries, it was so fascinating... and without giving any details (simply because I know most people don't want to hear them) I am so excited to work there this summer.

33% makes me sad

I went to the gym the other day for the first time in a long time, and I got to thinking "I wonder what my body fat % is?" So I had it checked. They told me that I have 33% body fat. That is a third of my body.... ok so if a third of my body is fat that doesn't leave much left for my bones, muscles, organs, blood, lymph, waste, etc. Soooooo, I wonder if this reading is super accurate. The way they test is by squeezing certain portions of your body (all my sad spots, unfortunately) with these calipers, then compare the measurements to a chart. Apparantly I am in the VERY UNHEALTHY category. When I questioned him about the accuracy he said that it is the 2nd most accurate way of testing for subcutaneous fat, and that the reason why I could have such a high % is because my body has been burning the lean body mass, instead of fat. Blah blah blah, jargon, jargon, jargon.
Either way, I was pretty upset as you could imagine. Granted I knew that the guy who was measuring me (by the way... not an attractive procedure) was a personal trainer and this was obviously a gimic to get people to sign up and pay a ka-jillion dollars for a personal trainer I agreed to meet with him to find a "plan" to lose some body fat this summer.
It ended up being just that, a sales pitch ....he showed me how bad I am and how I have no plan to lose body fat correctly and that the only way this was going to happen was to hire him. That got me to thinking....I have taken human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, microbiology, chemistry, etc. I have plenty of schooling about how the human body works, the only thing that this guy has over me is that he knows how to properly exercise and I don't. Therefore, I have decided to educate myself and learn how to be my own personal trainer. If I have to spend money on anything, I should be training myself so that I can have a lifelong personal trainer, ME! So, here is to losing about 20 lbs of body fat...not body mass and to education! Let me know if you have any advise!

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!

June 1, 2002 is our wedding anniversary, which means that we just celebrated our 5th anniversary. We had already planned to be in Utah visiting my mom and sister for my little sister's high school graduation so I had to plan our anniversary events around that. I have always dreamed about going to the Salt Lake Temple. When I was little I wanted to get married there, but my mom convinced me that no one would want to go all the way to Utah for a wedding,... well, you get the idea. So I HAD to go to the temple. We arranged to go to a session there, it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! From the moment I walked into the main hallway, I just began to cry. The detail and the majestic look was too much to handle, LOL...I cried through the entire 2 hour session. If you have never been, I highly recommend it.
After our temple session we went to dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial building, the top floor has a restaurant called The Roof. It is a gourmet buffet. We had a window table and our view was the sun setting behind the temple spires. Again, it was gorgeous and very romantic.
We had a wonderful time visiting with my family, but taking my dad's suggestion, we decided to stay downtown in SLC for the evening so we could be alone. I am so glad we did, because it was so relaxing to just be the two of us, without any plans, or chaos.
Our anniversary went perfectly, just the way I planned. I don't have many pictures, but I will post what I have.

Our hotel room, thanks for the tip Aracely.

New Template

Sorry for flip-flopping on my template, I wanted to try something new, but I didn't really like it. So for now, I will keep with my original design.
