A plea for patients...and patience!

In my second semester at dental hygiene school I have started to see actual patients! I have already cleaned Matt's teeth, now that is true love! Unfortunately we are all responsible for finding our own patients. It seems like the majority of my family is not readily available when I need them, so I am putting out a plea.
You need your teeth cleaned, I need to clean teeth... this works out for the both of us. It is especially beneficial for those who do not have dental insurance because everything we do in our clinic is for a very low fee. We are non-profit, but we do have fees to pay for supplies. If you are interested in helping out a student, and would like to get your teeth cleaned too, just let me know. I will be happy to accomodate you!

My mommy is leaving!

When I was born my family lived in Utah. My father had just graduated from BYU and we were living in Kearns until I was four years old. We moved to California in 1986 because my dad got a job here and we wanted to be near family. Well, we have come full circle. My mom is returning to Utah 21 years later.

Over the Christms break she went to visit my aunt in Pleasant Grove, UT and while she was there she had a job interview. Within a few weeks she was hired and is expected to be in Utah to start work. The strange part was, that we found out only last week that she is leaving this week. WOW!!! Talk about having to swallow a lot all at once.

And so, she will be leaving her small apartment in Camarillo and will move to Cedar Hills Utah. One of my mom's goals over the last 21 years was to own a home. Well, in Camarillo that isn't exactly an inexpensive purchase so it never happened. However, we have found that in Utah her mortgage payment won't be that much different than paying rent at an apartmnet here... GO MOM!

Well, goodbye to my mom, I try to visit her now as much as I can, but the trip to Utah is a little far so I am hoping for twice a year. What do you think? Enough? Too much? Well, either way, I love my mom and I will miss her.

P.S. My little sister might be going too, but first we have to make sure her high school credits will transfer to the new school, otherwise she won't be able to graduate.... for the record, I will miss her too.

Pictures of the children in our lives.

This is a picture of my nephew Tanner, he is going to be 5 years old this year!
This is my neice Lauren, she is so much fun to play with, and she will do almost anything we say. We have recently taught her to say "Geek."
Last but certainly not least is our new nephew Michael. He is only a few days old in this picture. He loves to squirm around, eat, and sleep.

Our new family blog!

Welcome to Matt and Katie's blog! I saw this as a wonderful way for us to keep in touch with family and friends. Let me give you a little info about us. Matt and I will celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary this June. We don't have any kids, yet, but our 2 dogs give us enough to worry about! Not to mention our niece and nephews. My older sister has a son, Tanner, and Matt's brother and wife have two kids, Lauren is 18 months and Michael was just born 2 days after Christmas this last year.

Matt is working for Take One Productions, Inc. (a video production company) and is currently working on an independant film with friends of his. Besides other side production jobs Matt also has a podcast, www.MormonCast.org. He has been getting quite a fan base around the WORLD. His most recent episode was dedicated to the Pioneer Trek we went on with youth in the Stake. Matt's calling at church is 1st counselor of the Elder's Quorum Presidency and is also the Stake Technology Specialist.

I am about to start my 2nd semester in dental hygiene school at Cypress College. I have worked as a dental assistant for the last 5 years and I was ready to move on to a more satisfying position. As a dental hygienist I will have an extremely flexible schedule and I am going to be paid a lot more! I currently serve as the 1st counselor in the Young Women presidency at church, as well as the Bulletin "Specialist"... I think they only use that word because they didn't know what else to call it.

I hope to keep you updated on events that happen in our lives and share some pictures. We wish you all a wonderful and successful 2007! See you soon!
