Oh, by the way, I passed my hygiene boards and received my California state license!!! I wasn't expecting the results for another week or so, but they came this last week. It was such a nice surprise. So now I am Katie, RDH. I still have to get myself some malpractice insurance (which doesn't cost much for hygienists...unlike the poor doctors) then I can go out and make some real money!

Congrats. So does that mean you're an independent contractor if you have to get malpractice insurance?
I'm not an independent contractor, I will be an employee. However it isn't a bad idea to get insurance in the chance that a patient comes directly after me or names me in a lawsuit along with the doctor.
